How to Pet Proof Your Home for the Holidays

Tis’ the season for holiday decorations! If you’re a pet parent, it’s important to consider safety when decking the halls and trimming the tree.

  1. Do not leave lighted candles unattended – even for a second! A cat walking by could swish a tail into the flame and a rambunctious dog could knock a candle over. Consider flameless candles to avoid the fire risk.

GPA-Northwest Adoption Events - Saturday, December 14th - Corvallis AND Eugene!

Once again, here's your chance to get up close and personal with a retired racing Greyhound! On Saturday, December 14th, representatives from Greyhound Pet Adoption - Northwest will be at the Corvallis Petco in the Timberhill Shopping Center from 11AM - 1PM, and at the Petco in Eugene located at 1169 Valley River Dr from 11AM to 2PM. (Note time differences)

We'll have some "display models" for you to interact with, and perhaps an adoptable Greyhound or two.

PLUS, at the Eugene Petco location, for just $8.95, we will snap a lovely 4” X 6” Keepsake Photo of your beloved pet with Santa! All proceeds will benefit Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest.

Please stop by the Eugene Petco for a picture or to give a donation, and invite your friends and family to do the same. Your dollars can go a long way in providing food, supplies, and medical care to a Greyhound in need.

AND, at the Corvallis event, you can meet "Nephro," a handsome 3 1/2 year old boy looking for his forever home!

Come join in the fun and frivolity! See you there!

In general, there are three kinds of dogs who benefit from the insulation provided by a sweater or coat, as well as the protection afforded by life as a pampered house pet:
  • Small dogs
  • Dogs who are elderly, chronically ill or both
  • Greyhounds, Whippets and dogs of a similar thin body type, especially those with short fur.
