ALERT! - Purina Buys Merrick Pet Care, Customers Furious

Although Merrick assured it’s customers that the acquisition by Purina wouldn’t mean any changes to ingredients, manufacturing or quality, to most of those angry pet parents, the sale of Merrick Pet Care (including Merrick brand dog and cat food, their organic line of pet food, Castor & Pollux, and budget conscious Whole Earth Farms line of dog foods) to Purina marked the end of a relationship with the former family owned and operated pet food and treat company they’d grown to trust.

Can You Help?

Volunteers are Needed
The running of the picnic requires lots of person-power. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and tear down as well as to staff the event. If you have time to give, even as little as an hour, every little bit counts! If you have several hours (or days) to assist us, you might just make our Greyhound Volunteer Hall of Fame! Either way, please contact Mary Lou at:

finiganm@comcast.net

At this time, we are also looking for donations of items,

greyhound related or not, for the raffle and silent auction. If you have items to donate to the fund raising, contact Mary Lou .... 541-688-1406

“All- American Anyone-Can-Join Fabulous Fantastic 4th of July Parade”

Once again it’s time for the All American, Fabulous, Fantastic, Anyone-Can-Join Fourth of July Parade, which starts at 10AM at Central Park in Corvallis... on July 4th, of course!

All greyhound/sight hounds and their families are invited to assemble at 9:30AM at Central Park in front of the Arts Center in downtown Corvallis.

If tradition continues, the route will proceed east along Monroe Ave from Eighth Street to First Street, then south along First Street to Adams Avenue, then west one block to Second Street, where it continues south to the skate park.

Those of you who took part in the parade in past years know how much fun this parade can be, as the Willamette Valley Greyhound Lovers are one of the most popular participants.

As of this writing, the forecast temperature at parade time is around 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies.   Be sure to bring water!  Walking time in the parade is approximately 40 minutes.  While excessive heat should not be a factor, it will still be plenty warm and may affect your decision whether or not to participate in the parade.  Keith and I will definitely be participating.  Hope to see you there!
