Dean
May 15, 2015 - June 9, 2023
Our 8-year-old Dean crossed the rainbow bridge on June 9th after a 10-month battle with osteosarcoma. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma on August 4th, 2022 at Bush Animal Hospital, and his back leg was amputated at OSU on September 1st. We tried two chemotherapies to treat the lesions that developed in his lungs, but the lung lesions progressed despite his chemo treatments. Dean had so many complications along the way, but he remained the happiest tripawd throughout his entire journey. Despite the cancer, he was able to cross several items off his bucket list including a few trips to the coast and many walks with his greyhound friends.
We adopted Dean on May 6th, 2017, at the age of two after he retired from an injury to one of his back toes during training that led to a toe amputation. Dean was the most outgoing of greyhounds. He loved everybody, and his tail never stopped wagging. He had so much energy for a greyhound. He loved his walks on the trail, and he loved scanning his environment for cats or squirrels. Dean brought so much joy and energy to our home. He loved to play with his squeaky bone, and he loved his Kong. He also loved to ‘boop’ everything that he could, including knocking down our oven mitts with his nose. He was always watching us because he didn’t want to miss anything. Our house still feels empty, and we miss his presence terribly.
