GPA-NW Greyhound Sponsorship Program - Sponsor Oletta, Who Will Be Living Among The Willamette Valley Greyhound Lovers!
Oletta
In her June 7th race, Oletta was in the lead when she took a spill with another dog on the first turn. This sweet little girl came to us intermittently holding her right rear leg up. After x-rays and examination by orthopaedic specialists, Oletta has been diagnosed with a very rare injury for Greyhounds – she has a torn cranial cruciate ligament. This injury is common to Labs, and Goldens, who have knee issues, but in Greyhounds only occurs as the result of trauma. Oletta will require surgical intervention to repair her injury. We are in the process of determining the best course of action to ensure this little three-year old has a health happy retirement.Oletta is a very sweet, wonderful pooch and will, someday soon, be joining the Willamette Valley Greyhound Lovers on our monthly walks. To be one of the Willamette Valley Greyhound Lovers who will assist Oletta as a sponsor, click here. Scroll down to "Oletta" and click on the "sponsor Oletta" link. GPA-NW appreciates any and all donations. Note that your donation will specifically sponsor Oletta, who will be living in Eugene, OR.

Meet "Iron" (Gable Ironhide)! He's Ready For Adoption!
Introducing "Iron!" He's a sweet, handsome five year old Greyhound looking for his "forever" home. Iron is well-mannered, quiet, friendly and walks very well on a leash. He has no issues with separation anxiety and gets along well with medium-to-larger size dogs. He loves kids but NOT cats.
I'm currently fostering him and he and my Greyhound Keith are becoming fast friends. A 5-star pooch!
If you are interested in meeting Iron, let me know. Iron may be at the October 4th adoption event at the Corvallis Petco.
Of course an application and home visit must be completed before adoption. For more information, send me an email: greyhoundude@gmail.com

Home Made Dog Treat Machine - Pretty Cool!
He Built The GREATEST Toy For His Dogs!
This Is SO Brilliant!
He Built The GREATEST Toy For His Dogs!
This Is SO Brilliant!
After being inspired by YouTube videos to make homemade treat machines, Dan decided to make his own version for his canine kids, Mak and Zoe. Using scrap wood and plastic water bottles, he finished his brilliant treat machine in just an hour!
Mak and Zoe, both 4 1/2 years old, react to the contraption quite differently. You see, it took Zoe about a day to figure it out, while Mak still looks at it bewildered, only snagging a treat if it flies his way. Dan says he’ll be inside the house getting ready for work and will hear the “thunk, whir” of the bottles spinning, as Zoe plays with it — even though there are no treats inside! Hysterical!
My favorite part of this video comes at the very end, when Zoe decides to go for the gold and steal the entire bag of treats, leaving Mak puzzled by the treat machine. It’s clear to see which adorable pup is the smarty-pants of the two! LOL!
Dan told us, “I like giving my pups something else to play with, when we aren’t off for a hike at the beach. They love to run on the sand and through the water.” What an amazing pet parent for going out of his way so much for his beloved dogs.
Please SHARE this brilliant idea!
