Great Global Greyhound Walk - September 25th (Part Two)

                         When: Sunday, September 25th @ 1:30

Where: 5th Street Market in Eugene
296 E 5th Ave. Eugene, OR 97401

The Great Global Greyhound Walk is a world-wide, annual
dog-walking event, bringing together greyhounds, galgos,
lurchers, and other sighthounds, to raise
awareness of the breeds and show the public
what incredible family companions they can be.

Willamette Valley Greyhound Lovers will be hosting
a GGG Walk in Eugene. From Ireland to Tasmania,
walks will be taking place
all over the world. Last year, over 7300 greyhounds
walked on one memorable day to celebrate
Sighthounds and promote awareness.

The Eugene walk will take place in downtown Eugene.
We will meet at 5th Street Market near the
south side parking lot at 1:30.
We'll have some bandanas and leis for your greyhounds
and please feel free to bring your own.
The color for this year's
walk is red, but any color is okay!

Great Global Greyhound Walk - September 25th (Part One)

 Greetings WVGLs!

Question: What had 7,509 Sighthounds, 343 walks, and was in 27 countries across the world?
Answer: The Great Global Greyhound Walk of 2021.

Question: What is happening on September 25th?
Answer: The Great Global Greyhound Walk of 2022!

Started in Great Britain in 2010, the Walk went worldwide in 2015, bringing greyhounds and their peeps together to walk in solidarity all over the globe.
The aim was (and is) to celebrate Sighthounds, to raise awareness of hounds
in need, and to promote them as pets in a BIG way, particularly Greyhounds and Galgos.

While Greyhound racing is winding down in the U.S., there are still thousands of Greyhounds in need of homes in countries that still have racetracks, such as Ireland, Mexico, and Australia. Some of these dogs have been making their way to loving homes in America, including here in Oregon, where Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest has placed Greyhounds from both Ireland and now Australia.

Check out the details in the preceding post for the Willamette Valley Walk happening in downtown Eugene. We hope you will join us and other greyhound lovers in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Wales, Australia, Canada, and many more, to promote awareness for adoption and the Greatness of Greyhounds!

Cheers,
Kym
